Y' Have Killed Me

Previous topic - Next topic

Rightly

Well, here we are

I tried and eventually failed at Morrissey cover
I find covers more arduous than originals

His lyrics were often pretty awful, so I changed them
the music was originally by someone else, Morrissey doesn't bother doing music, bless him!

Well I changed that too

there's still plenty there of the original

I consider it a hybrid "Cover/Original"

I used to play it on stage, screaming it. I was tired of the easy listening that seem ubiquitous.
It'd knock me out each time I played
I like the song, didn't want to drop it from the set but I eventually had to

I trying to put together a more relaxed acoustic version now, while steering well clear of easylistening
I'm managing

Feedback very welcome!!

Lyrics:

y' have killed me

not all comes for free
not mouthwash, not memory
I entered nothing
nothing entered me
until you with the key
and you did your best

as I live and breathe
you have killed me, you have killed me
yes, I walk around somehow
but you have killed me, you've killed me

one knee to the floor, what's my life for?

with designs to achieve
nice try, but really, there wasn't any need
I answer to no one
nobody asks of me
it was hard truly, truly hard to believe
when you did your best

as I live and breathe
you have killed me, you have killed me
yes, I walk around somehow
but you have killed me, you've killed me

so, who am I that I must come to be here? to be here

as I live and breathe
you have killed me, you have killed me
yes, I walk around somehow
but you have killed me, you've killed me
and there is no point in saying this again
there is no point in saying this again
but I forgive you, I forgive you, as ever, I forgive you

I entered nothing
still, I forgive you

Mora Amaro La Loba

I don't know what to say, like you say, it's an original version, a strange mix but with a special charm. Maybe it's your way of interpreting it that gives it value.
@Rightly

Y sí, you are right, versions are more difficult than original hahaha
I did not know that to live <I had to die so many times

I'll cross that bridge when I find it. Thanks.
