Hi-New here-a songwriter's take on AI, and a tool I built

Hi, my name is Pete--a piano and guitar player and songwriter. I've always had difficulty finishing songs, or getting stuck on a 2nd verse.
I got frustrated enough with the blank page that I ended up building a small tool for myself, and then turned it into a website so other people could benefit from this, too.  And since there's a board for exactly this, I'm hoping to share this with you and get your thoughts on it and also see if it can help you out a bit. It's helped me more than I expected--I've finished songs I'd otherwise have left half-written, and every friend I've shown it to has walked away with something they felt excited about. It works for all levels.

After you describe your song a bit, it hands back only a starting draft--a structure: a verse and chorus with a chord progression that you pick out of many to choose from, or make yourself, that you can hear and see on the piano, strings or guitar. With both diagrams for keys and guitar tabs. From there you rewrite it in your own words, add verses, swap chords around--anything to make it your own.  Unlike Suno, which is just a factory machine  pumping out already made songs that are not your own. And who are still in court battles for stealing songs to train their own ai.  That's why some people are afraid to share their songs. This is not that.

If you already have your own lyrics, and are trying to figure out music to go along with them--you can put them into SongFriend, and pick the genre and some chords--or let the site do that for you--then it will place the chords on the lyrics at just the right spots, and you can listen for the perfect fit.  From there, you can move, change or add anything to the song.

My honest take on AI in songwriting--I was completely against it 6 months ago, just before I started making the tool for myself.  It has no lived experience or memories of its own, so a fully AI-written lyric doesn't come out personal. But for breaking the blank page and getting momentum, it's helped me a lot. You change it any way you want, so it's YOUR song, not AI.  A creative drafting partner, not a songwriter--it doesn't replace the feeling or the editing.
