When I Go Away

From time to time, I am prone to daydreaming. Nothing unusual about that, except in my case it sometimes causes me to lose focus on where I am or what I'm doing. What is more worrying is that my daydreams are not the happy, carefree things that most people like to think about. Sometimes I imagine myself being bullied and manipulated. It can be quite disturbing. I don't know why it happens. Perhaps it's just the way stress manifests for me.

Luckily, I have a wife who is very understanding and always helps to bring me back from despair. I decided to write a song about it.

For the music, I used a guitar looper pedal to play the riff over a range of chords, some happy, some sad. I hoped this would reflect my changing moods.

I hope you get some inspiration and enjoyment from it.

Sometimes I never know just what to do,

I try to see it different for my sake.

It's a beautiful day but I'm in the clouds.
Smiling so dumb, but the anger shrouds.

A pall of venom and a tide of hate.
The glow of your love is all too great.

I feel that I just can't take it.
The way that you never fake it.
You only ever give to me so true.
And then you go and look at me.
