Title: Zillionaires
Post by: Thekesslerboy on May 07, 2025, 03:05 PM
Zillionaires (https://homerecording.com/bbs/threads/zillionaires.430557/)

This one was fully completed using the Boss BR-800 digital portastudio. No external effects apart from the in built ones, and the internal drum machine. Managed to to just keep it at 4 minutes, which is rare for me. Especially as I am a big fan of that elusive perfect 3 minute pop song.

Grateful for any mixing thoughts and composition ones too. Is it too long, too short, are there too many choruses, too few?

Well this is just great. Love the production, particularly the guitar sound and vocal harmonies. The only suggestion I have is that rather than a fade out a nice clean finish tying things up might be good.

I agree with Dan right down the line. It sounds great! And, yes, I would wrap it up nice and tidy with no fadeout. I love it! It did not feel too long to me, although the outro (as already mentioned) could be cut shorter?

Thank you both.  Interestingly, the original take does end with a clean finish much earlier in the outro.  I just extended it artificially with a copy and paste of the rhythm track and soloed over it.  I like your idea as it makes the song get well under the 4 minute mark and not outstay its welcome!

Grateful for your appreciation of the song itself.  It means a lot.
