Title: The Devil Was A Outlaw Jesus Was A Saint

Verse 1

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint,

One lived in whiskey, one lived in restraint.

But I seen 'em both ridin' through the heart of this land,

One with a Bible, one with a gun in his hand.

Chorus

Ain't much difference when you're fightin' for your name,

Between the man they curse and the man they praise.

We're all just sinners tryin' to find a way,

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Verse 2

Mama tried to warn me 'bout the lines in the sand,

Said "Son, pick your side — don't you straddle that strand."

But I walk that wire with a heart full of rust,

Half in redemption, half in the dust.

Chorus

Ain't much difference when you're fightin' for your name,

Between the man they curse and the man they praise.

We're all just sinners tryin' to find a way,

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Bridge

One turned water into wine,

The other turned peace into sin.

But I've seen 'em both in the mirror sometimes,

Starin' back at the shape I'm in.

Final Chorus

Ain't much difference when you're ridin' that line,

Between savin' souls and stealin' time.

We're all just wanderers, tryin' to make it straight —

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Outro (spoken or sung low)

Yeah, maybe I'm somewhere in between,

Just another ghost in the gasoline.

@Elvis Nash — One of your best, man! I spun it a couple of times to fully absorb it. Excellent guitars, solid vocals, clever lyrics, a very clear mix/production, and a great vibe. I enjoyed my listen. Nice work! 😃

Cheers,
Joseph

This is the first song I've heard since waking up, and I'm blown away.

I'd been wondering for a few days if, besides sharing your old songs, you were making new ones, and I see you are, and you've filled my heart with hope because my discouragement is a vampire that devours me, but seeing you has awakened my shame, my weakness, so this time I hope I can live up to my own expectations, hahaha. Thank you!!

Getting back to your work, I've enjoyed it immensely; you're a fantastic creator, guitarist, and singer.

I don't know what your life has been like or what it's like now, but I sense that suffering is the horse you ride, although the landscapes of the soul you traverse are certainly like the flowers of your desert.

Thank you for being here and being my friend in song, Elvis

You don't escape suffering , it's a human emotion . Like everyone life is up and down . Try to keep a sense of humor about it all . So I'm an out law driving a white Malibu . Well it should be black for the bad ass image .

Thanks Mora

It would be cool if you'd put together a full album of songs like this one and your other new one, Forty Pounds of Ghost. Good tracks, man! 8)

Cool. Starts Dylan-esque then gets angrier. A lot to like.

If it would sell , A Lp with artwork would be cool. Down loads are the only thing happening to day

It's worth a try. We sometimes see a resurgence in albums for nostalgic reasons.

You probably have to be a major to sell Lps , Though I've sold cds , the marketing costs don't cover the costs . You'd probably have to sell 1000's of them to ROI and a profit

I agree. I hold no illusions about making it big. I simply enjoy writing and recording my own songs for fun, but I would like to hire a professional sound engineer and studio musicians to record my best 15 songs with me in a studio. It would be fun to produce a professionally-made CD before I go to that big recording studio in the sky someday. LOL!!! 😂🤣

ha ha ha , the big recording studio in the sky in Disneyland . Hopefully they'll be no Suno songs up there , I don't think robots go to heaven . I guess you have to learn how to spell professional to be one without spell check

Right! There won't be any fake AI-generated songs 'up there'. They're all assigned to 'down there' where they belong. LOL!!! 😂🤣

Or Hell . The robots all sold their soul along with Suno . On judgement day . Rick Beato and St Peter . Well we don't care you went to Harvard . I don't think Jesus is in the record business , You can bet the devil is . If I didn't like music so much I'd be a comedian . How is this robot singing a love song , robots don't have sex
