Back after along absence. I'll start reviewing songs here again later today and onwards. This song was loosely inspired by a long weekend in Paris with my daughter.
Métropolitain
Words and music written and performed bt Chris Price ©2026
I'm heading south again to the boulevard Margeurite de Rochechouart
I'm seeing an old new friend, she live so near but never go that far
Up and down the metro line, Haute cuisine and drink fine wine
Camembert demi baguette, her gallic shrug you can't forget
It was love on Line 2...of the Métropolitain Line
She wore the t-shirt and beret, conquered me in every way
Broken English and broken heart, spit me out I have no say
Up and down the metro line, Haute cuisine and drink fine wine
Camembert and French baguette, the gallic shrug you can't forget
It was love on Line 2...
With a sophisticated, cosmopolitan liberal mind and her psychedelic streak
She turn me inside out with all her streetwise and funky debonair chique
I'm heading south again to the boulevard Margeurite de Rochechouart
I'm seeing an old new friend, she live so near but never go that far
Up and down the metro line, Haute cuisine and drink fine wine
Camembert and French baguette, her gallic shrug you can't forget
Smoking gauloises cigarettes, salade nicoise and lipstick wet
Passion like I never knew, love me till I'm black n blue
It was love on Line 2
@ChrisPrice – It's good to see you back and hear a new track from you, man! Your songs always reflect the vibe of the best rock sounds from the early to mid 70s, but with a modern-day energy and polish.
Métropolitain maintains the standard that folks have come to expect and enjoy in your songs.
The track features your solid lead guitar work as usual, especially the middle piece that kicks in around time index 1:57. The song has excellent vocals, production, and is mixed with a very clear sound. The abrupt closing, in contrast to a long fadeout, was an interesting choice, but it works well.
Your lyrics are clever throughout, but the best ones to me were the spoken lines, which added a cool effect.
With a sophisticated, cosmopolitan liberal mind and her psychedelic streak
She turn me inside out with all her streetwise and funky debonair chiqueGood stuff! I enjoyed listening! If the song is any indication, your trip to Paris with your daughter was exciting and fun! I'm looking forward to your next track while enjoying this one! 😃

Liked this, great lyrics, which is unusual for this sort of rock. Lived in and crowded, just like a city scene; with a surprising guitar solo and change from that. Nice prechorus and it all sounds fresh, despite being an often played style.
