Title: Just Out Of Reach
Post by: IronKnee on Jan 01, 2025, 04:12 PM
One of my latest. This is the first song done with the help of Suno. I may never record myself again!

"Just Out Of Reach"
Words & Music By Tom Tognaci

Lord, grace me with a song, one the whole wide world will hear
Help me write this song, one that's music to the ear
I know it's out there... out of reach
I know it's out there... just out of reach

Lord, whisper to me words; ones that open these locked doors
Untangle my tongue with such words, not mine but yours
I know they're out there... out of reach
I know they're out there... just out of reach

I'll leave a lamp lit on my roll-top
My pen and paper will be yours
Take your time, Lord, for I am patient
As I've been, time after time, before

Lord, help me light the fire that inspires a melody
One forged in the hearth in the flames of harmony
I know it's out there... out of reach
I know it's out there... just out of reach

Well I don't know who Suno is but this is a top quality recording.   The guitar and vocals are excellent, when it moves to the chorus the uplift is spot on.
One issue the start is chopped of or fading in?  Definitely sounds off.
Other than that it's great.

I love it Tom @IronKnee It's a beautiful melody and I always enjoy themes other than romance or love lost.

I've been experimenting a little with Suno, but I haven't figured out how to get it to use my melodies. Can you enlighten me? I have no problem getting it to use my words. Sometimes, I can get it to use a female voice, but other times, it insists on using a male voice regardless of what I tell it.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. And thank you for the nice review. The beginning was a choice, and it works for me... and I don't see it as a deal breaker.

The recording was done by a guy who was proving a point with me, as I was arguing the pit falls of A.I.
The lyrics were exact, and the melody was about 89%. There were some embellishments that actually turned out nicely.... some rises and extensions in the singing that were really nice. But these were all by accident. He did not know my melody, as it seems to be the fitting tune for those lyrics. The guitar chords are almost all the same progressions, except I wrote the song in G... whereas the recording he made was in D.

Thanks for commenting!

Gotta love Suno, I use it all the time to showcase my lyrics.

@IronKnee - the song is great

As others have said, I would have preferred a straight start over a quick fade-in - but you have explained it was your choice

The vocal sounds great - although there is something "funky" going on in the high mid/high frequencies that is detracting from the natural feel

But other than that, the song, lyrics, performance, and production are ticking all of the boxes (apart from the weird volume jump at the very end, but that is a very quick and easy fix if you wanted to change it)

Hi M...
And thanks for stopping by. SUNO is an A.I program. Someone from a different site took my song and produced it.

Hi Boyd...
Thanks for your comments. It wasn't my choice for the fade in at the beginning. I did not make this production. It must have been their choice. Regardless, the lyrics are 100% and the chord progressions and melody are remarkably close. It sounds good to me, and I didn't have to lift a finger  8)
