Updated to add my song's new music video. This is a song that I wrote last spring and crafted an early demo for. Very recently, I worked much more on it, changed it a bit, tweaked the lyrics, recorded fresh vocals, and tweaked the bass track. I just sent it off for a new video, which should be ready in a week or so. 😎
The song is about an beautiful enchantress who punishes a wicked woman by making her innate fear of monsters under her bed come to life in her mind to destroy her. It's a song that supports my forthcoming fictional horror novel.
Cheers,
Joseph

song from my forthcoming fictional horror novel "Omega's Dark: The Transference"
--Verse 1
You look but you don't see
You listen but don't hear
Your fingers trace love's heart across thin air
That you don't feel
--Verse 2
You count the stars in the sky
But you don't know their number
The waves crash over your head
But you don't know how far you're under
--Pre-chorus 1
Dark of night strikes a fear
in your life and your heart
You're so close to the end
Her magic enters in
--Chorus
Under your bed at night
Dark demons lurk there out of sight
Spirits and shadows come alive
Her malevolence claims your mind
The hush grows loud and clear
Your heart beats fast, your fate is here
Now when your legs hang over the side
She will drag you into the fire
--Release
Tonight, her malevolence takes your life
--Verse 3
It's a fight you can't win
You're frozen in fear
Your body feels the scales of serpent skin
Your end is here
--Pre-chorus 2
And the night leaves you cold
As her bite leaves a mark
You know you're at the end
Her magic's pain and sin
(repeat chorus; then to bridge)
--Bridge
She's one part Heaven, two parts Hell
A blend of terror mixed so well
Your journey's bound for pain
You'll burn tonight
All my love for her saved my life
Now Hedra will make you burn tonight
(repeat chorus through fade out)
Hola y contenta de verte
@icystorm I think it is one of your best songs, recording, arrangement, changes, vocals, lyrics, really great listening.

@Mora Amaro La Loba -- Thank you for listening! I appreciate your kind words! ;D

I think the sound is great. I like that your sung lyrics are clearly enunciated. I appreciate that you included the printed lyrics; I would have been lost without them. (That may sound like a contradiction to the "clearly enunciated" lyrics, but it isn't.) The setting has a frenetic feel to it that suits the topic. Nice job!

Many thanks for listening and your kind words! I sing in staccato style, which makes clear enunciation a bit of a challenge when spitting out the words quickly, so it's cool to know I pulled it off. ;D I have an appreciation for those who can sing with a smooth-flowing legato style like you do. It's something I admire, but never mastered.
I look forward to hearing a new song from you soon, especially if you use your Karen Carpenter-esque voice as beautifully as you did in
One More Time. I enjoyed your vocals in
The Mark of the Chains as well, but
One More Time was outstanding! :D

Thank you, Joseph! I am trying but production is a serious challenge for me. I have two or three ready for production and I am struggling with that part now.
I have a feeling we'll be meeting here more often. Just seen the new AI section!!
This is a great song. You have a real gift for writing this kind of material. The production is really good. And you have a trademark vocal style which works really well here.
Keep em comin' :)

Hey, thanks for listening, Chris! I appreciate the kind words! My strongest influence is Barry Gibb in the 80s and 90s, post-disco. 80s songs like "The Woman in You," "Shape of Things to Come," and "You Win Again," for example. Great stuff, IMO.
I look forward to hearing your next song soon, man! :D
Cheers,
Joseph
Great effort, Joseph. I can tell that you put a lot of hard work and attention to detail in the production.
Who is the female vocal in the chorus? That works really well but would be even better if she was singing a harmony as well maybe?
Nothing wrong with it as it is though.

@Nick Ryder -- Thanks for listening and your kind words, Nick! The female backing vocalist in the chorus is patterned after Nicole Patterson, whose real voice is used by an algorithm in a vocal model. I used my original vocal as the input, and then moved Nicole's modeled voice up an octave. So, the lead vocals and my own backing vocals are all me (with the usual mastering applied in my Mixcraft 10.5 Pro Studio DAW), and the additional backing vocals from the Nicole model use my own vocals as input. If I decide to further this song, I will hire a real female vocalist from FIVERR (or one of the other gig sites) to sing the backing vocals. Or perhaps you know of someone who works cheaply? ;D
And I feel it is increasingly important to add these days: The song itself, as all of my songs always have been and always will be, was
composed entirely by me with no use of AI whatsoever. ;D
Cheers,
Joseph
My new video for this song was just completed by my videographer on FIVERR. I like it! I'm
not seeking renewed feedback, especially from those who were gracious enough to have already commented on my song. Thank you! :D I just wanted to post the video in my thread for posterity and completeness before moving on to my next song. I added it up top, too, in my original post. Happy songwriting to all! :D
Cheers,
Joseph
Hey man I remember this song , You did a good job on it

Dope! This is right up my alley haha. I think it's really well mixed/balanced. It has a real Depeche Mode/Ministry/Cure feel to it. I particularly love the alliterative quality of the lyrics. The harmonies work really well. Might just go ahead and add this to my Halloween playlist. Great work!
