I just heard the love of his life had died of cancer and he said he wouldn't be long and that he was ready

Very sad story

Apparently "Hallelujah" has been covered by over 200 different artists! My favourites are Bon Jovi and Jeff Buckley

Hallelujah is one of those songs that genuinely surprises me in its popularity. I mean, I'm not denying it's a really great song - it's just not the kind of song I would ever imagine the mainstream going for. Buckley's version for me is the only one. Even other artists I really like just can't touch the way he makes that song shiver. Damn, he should have stayed around to give us more music. RIP Leonard.

I had the fortune to catch him in concert in Dublin a couple from years ago. His craft skills were to die for. There is currently no one on the same planet lyric wise. A massive loss.

Was strangely shocked when I heard the news. An absolute, endearing legend. Chelsea Hotel No.2 has made me cry lots and often. He had a way with words and (*ahem* deserved that Nobel Prize *ahem*)

I was introduced to the works of Leonard Cohen through a girl I was seeing and continued to research and enjoy his music and love Buckley's version of hallelujah.

R.I.P Leonard.

I feel immensely privileged to have seen him four times in concert, once watching him sing only a few feet away.

He's always been the benchmark for me, and no one else comes close.

RIP Leonard.
