Classy, soulful, aching with emotion. I hope you’ll take it as a compliment but I’m also reminded of ‘Need Your Love So Bad’ by Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. I think the guitar solo is very expressive and compliments the raw vocal performance very well. Great stuff.

Nice one Pompey, nailed it on the vocal, probably one of your best yet, some nice guitar from Davy, and a good authentic sound, I agree with the Peter Green comment above, Lets have some more like this,

Some fusion going on here! It's a real soul song with a bit more modern drums, and the guitar really takes the stage... The arrangement probably isn't quite what we expect but that's not a bad thing at all.
I think the vocal is really well recorded and mixed here - so nice and clear.

Yeah...top class vocal here...Smokey Brads.

Fantastic guitars too...tasteful stuff from Davy...I loved the second version more...although I was torn with the more period-correct old-style drums of V1...I think V2 just sounds better. Good call on that.

Authentic sound from a genre and an era I’ve always been a big fan of.

Top stuff yet again.

Nice vox and lead guitar.

Drums much better second time....simpler and therefore less of a distraction (and better snare sound). Guitar chord stabs timing a bit ragged a few times (just after 1.00 for example). Horns get the feel across OK.

The emotion's there but maybe the song has been dashed off a bit quick. I think the phrasing could be tightened up a bit in places...it all hits well in first verse then seems to be a bit unsure what it's going to do.

Vox full of feeling (but better a bit tighter) and lead guitar great...the two stars of this show.
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.

Thanks so much guys - I've made some modifications as suggested and gone with the V2 drums version. Link amended in original post - It's great to get this feedback, it really is  :)

Hmm...definitely getting the 60's soul thing which is obviously a VERY good thing. I can hear echoes of Otis in there and also Rod Stewart which I think someone else mentioned. Horns used effectively and the vocal has an edginess a la Wilson Pickett. It does lack the ultimate drip of southern sweat and swamp baked blues but hey, you're a white guy from England!

Excellent.

Hi John, not really a big fan of the 60's soul stuff, but I have to say I thought this was great. Your singing on this is fab, reminded of one Mr J Lennon in places! Great authentic arrangement and a superb guitar solo from mr Skub, I presume!
Excellent!

Cheers

Very cool man! Very cool! U nailed that whole vibe! What a Vocal! Great lead guitar aswell. I loved the brass especially. Maybe it’s a little long for the type of song it is, but that’s a tiny nit in what I think is an awesome track. Congrats guys.  :D

As others have said, nailed the vocal!! You really went for it and it works out really well

Perfectly suited guitar playing from Davy! Nice and soulful and bluesy.

The production is great as usual and you've come at your music from yet another angle. The ever versatile Pompey! You're a true talent, nice work

Hi John!

You really have a way with sixties inspired music. This song holds such suspense.

Some criticism: I'm not a bit fan of the horn/brass sound. It comes and goes a bit sudden.
