From my album “Home Of Kings”. this is ‘A Piece Of My Heart’.
I’m an autobiographical songwriter. During my daily commute home, I began to think of life experiences and how we give so much of ourselves to people and places. We often leave a piece of our heart behind in the geographical places that we visit and with the people who are no longer in our lives.

On the Headland by the boats, where skippers land their catch,
I left a fragment there, bruised beyond compare.
On the windswept promenade, where kites fly overhead,
I left a fragment too, I left it there with you; a piece of my heart.
I wait for you in the dead of night when dreamland comes alive.
In the winter of our discontent where steam trains still arrive.
In the heart of Liverpool, where the Beatles sang of love,
I left a fragment there to never be reclaimed.
In Brighton’s cobbled streets, where sea birds dive then soar
I left a fragment too. I left it there with you; a piece of my heart.
To the mother of my children, I left a piece with you.
Miami or Sterling, the schoolyard and the zoo.
I left a fragment too. I left it there with you; a piece of my heart.
