Any One Of Us

Did you ever stop to think about the hardship or the pain?
I wonder did it matter when I stood there in the rain?

I tried to hold on; you'll never know,
'til muscle flesh and sinew failed then forced me to let go.
Love can make a fool of any one of us I know.

Did you ever lose direction; I mean really fall apart?
I hope you never know the sting of a trampled broken heart".

I tried to hold on; you'll never know,
'til muscle flesh and sinew failed then forced me to let go.
Love can make a fool of any one of us I know.

It's pointless reaching out to you again.
You nailed your colours firmly to the mast.
Walk within the cemetery walls wit me.
Ponder over things you shouldn't see.

I tried to hold on; you'll never know,
'til muscle flesh and sinew failed then forced me to let go.
Love can make a fool of any one of us I know.

Any one of us I know.
Any one of us I know.
Any one of us I know.

Any one of us I know.

Very nice melody,
and the backing vocal is very sweet
The lyrics and theme resonate with me
I've got myself, or been in some fine messes
It can be unpleasant looking back.

Well done.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

A the extremes of heartbreak. Very well represented here - some lovely lyrics (I particularly liked the "trampled broken heart" line).

Lovely gentle treatment, suits the song. The BVs are lovely - really well executed.

No suprise then, a quality write and delivery! Loved it Paul!

@rightly and @MonnoDB. Thank for your reviews. It took eleven years before I was able to write this. My marriage came to an end in 2013. Never planned but devastating when the end arrives. Marriages often have far reaching consequences that take many years before they manifest. It was time to say something about that time in my life and it's lasting impact despite the lovely things that are now present in my life.

I'm glad to hear things worked out for you.
Every master has been an amateur at some point.
Amateurs are prone to making mistakes (I tell myself)
Like Oscar wilde once said
"It'll all work out in the end.
If its not working out it's not the end"
Or words to that effect.

Good morning!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Hi @Paul V

A song laden with emotion. The softly strumming guitars offering gentle support to the delicate vocal. It's been a little while since I heard a 'full production' of yours and this was really captivating. The vocals were all brought together very well, subtle but affecting. Having recently ended 17 years of deeply unhappy marriage, I know the essence lyric all too well. I'm glad you find yourself with good things around you now.  :)

All the best,

CCB

@Paul V  Lovely wistful song, super gentle melody and some great subtle touches in the arrangement/ production. Keep that backing vocalist, she's good!

@Paul V

Beautiful and calm melody. I really like the combination of vocals and backing vocals - magical sound!
The outro turned out great - the song sounds whole and complete. :)
