    • Sixth Beatle - a music themed novel by Michael A (not much about The Beatles!)
« on: June 14, 2024, 11:28:40 PM »
Hi all, as many on here will know I have been spending my creative time on novels rather than songwriting these past couple of years. But I was finally inspired to write a song last week when my step son got married to his lovely partner out in sunny Cyprus.

Apparently when they heard my efforts it made the pair of them cry! I do hope they were happy tears and not tears of pain!  ;D

If you care to listen, then the result is here:
I will have a good listen to what’s been going on round here in the morning. Cheers all!

Lyrics

Beautiful Day in the Sun

We flew across the sea
Goodbye grey Northern skies
Took in the sweet rays
Of the next sunrise
A world so bright
In brilliant light
The sky and sea both blue
My heart was bursting
With all this love for you

All I wanted, our most beautiful day in the sun
And to hear that you love me so
All we wished for, our most beautiful day in the sun
And you said that you love me so
Then we made it, our most beautiful day in the sun
And I told you I love you too
Like I do

We made our promises
And they will stand the test
So strong together now
Cos our love is the best
We danced along
Our special song
The light that never goes out
Sweet memory for keeps
Of that there is no doubt

We got this love thing
Forever

That's a lovely wedding present.
Unusual sounding and still catchy
And kept quite simple, there can be no doubting
the authenticity of sentiments expressed. 👏
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

Hello @MichaelA,  Good to see you around and to hear one of your unique songs again.

It's always lovely to hear songs directly from experience. This one conveys so much joy.  The verse pattern melody contrasts greatly with the following section. This creates great interest.  You're an accomplished writer Michael and it is always a pleasure to listen to your creative output from striking melody to heartfelt lyrics. If there must be tears then may they be tears of joy!  Congratulations to you and your family.  I hope all is well Michael. Good to see you back on board.

Hey @MichaelA - how lovely to hear a new song from you! I’m actually away in Italy for the next while so only caught this cos you tagged me in your review of our new one (thank you!!!) and came to see if you’d posted one!!

Now you know what I’m going to say - I love your serious / heartfelt songs so this is right up my street! It’s such a lovely gift to your loved ones - I’m not surprised it caused tears. Hell, I’m welling up listening to it. Gorgeous melody, beautiful words, lovely arrangement. Back with a bang I say! Loved it!!!

Thanks to all those of you who took time to listen and comment on this song. Much appreciated @rightly, @Paul V, @moraamarolaloba, @MonnoDB and @Elvis Nash.

Hey Karen, I didn’t expect you’d join in with the tears. Italian wine? 😀 But you are not alone apparently, as besides the couple themselves, a couple of other folk have said this. That’s weddings for you, I guess. I suppose we humans like pure joy after all! Yet we songwriters probably write far more songs on the miserable side of life, ha ha! Interesting…
