There's a reason a lot a great players move to Nashville ( Well Unless AI takes over , that's another subject) They can find work as session players on writers music and get paid . Not just country , every genre there is . Just by Net-Working , they could be playing with Taylor Swift . What if you're some prodigy player in the middle of the boon-docks ?  The dream dies and you're working at Uncle Billy's Hardware store. If you go there and record with session players like Danny Dugmore , Ahh Graham Nash don't know shit about music , Well I'm flying there to track out in LA with Graham   , Stop playing them fancy chords man... This is country music ,

Oh yeah Graham Nash don't know shit about music lol.

What if your a gifted song-writer ? living in Boonville won't help you , That's why they flock to Nashville.  I'm too old now , But I learned a few tricks from Nashville . That's where the dream - machine lives . not just country music .

Whilst there are a few overseas members on this forum, it is predominately UK based, and this is the reason that Nashville does not mean anything to the majority of people on here.

I could not name one song that came out of Nashville. Has there been a Bohemian Rhapsody, Strawberry Fields, Dancing Queen, Wish You Were Here or Imagine come out of Nashville?

Anyway, I hope this thread gets back on topic as it was going really well before it got derailed by fish, Jesus, Nashville and the bible :)

He asked me what the special about Nashville , So I answered .   Jesus, Nashville and the bible , that is funny

Back on topic
I don't record at home : I go to studios like Kieth Richards. A dying breed . I do not like drum machines or toys that replace humans and session players . I hate AI and band in the box .  I'm, sure it has something to do with Jesus and love thy neighbor, not toys and robots . I hate all streaming services , email and the internet in general. doctors and cities . What does this guy like ? Well dogs Veterens, young women are alright, but a bit annoying. I bet she wants to be with me , right and cats fly  . I never found Monty Python funny . You don't need all the bells and whistles really . A guitar on stage and sing it , These women who dress like porn stars do not impress me , including Taylor Swift  . I'm not sure if I should run a hot bath or listen to your song .

I already got your vibe along time ago , you  don't like country music Nick , You'd have to live in cave if you've never heard a song out of Nashville.

That's probably a standard by now . does that sound like hillbillys to you ? the first line has more Ethos and Pathos then most songs , that's why it crossed over genres

What songs did Paul McCartney record in Nashville?
Songs recorded
Junior's Farm. Written by Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney. ...
Sally G. Written by Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney. ...
Send Me The Heart. Written by Paul McCartney, Denny Laine. ...
Hey Diddle. Written by Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney. ...
Bridge On The River Suite. ...
Wide Prairie. ...
Hey Diddle. ...
Sally G.

I would guess Paul puts aside( cowboys ), recording there.

I'm sure ( On How You Record ) Was hashed in studios with session players ( you know humans, they actually still walk on earth) , They walk pass recording toys ) they work on the songs.

I've enjoyed all of this thread  :)

I love @Elvis Nash take on it all too...it's fascinating stuff.

I can play drums (not that I'm up to much, mind you) and have owned a few kits both electric and traditional. I replaced the traditional kit with an electronic kit because noise levels were a problem (for other people, rather than myself  ;) ) but mostly because it was such a carry-on to mic everything up satisfactorily. Added to that was the fact that I can't play anywhere near as well as pros/AI do. I went through a period of playing all the instruments on all of my recordings, but the novelty quickly wore off. I did a fake "live" EP in an effort to replicate a gig scenario...so just 1 guitar, bass, drums and 1 vocal....which was really fun to do...but ultimately, I sold the electric kit too. It was also taking up a lot of space. So it's not that I can't play, just that, for a variety of reasons, I choose not to.

AI helping little guys like us along with our lovely hobby isn't what's wrong with the Human Race at this point in time. In fact, I'd perhaps rather see AI or even a Windows 95 PC forming policy at the White House, Westminster and Brussels than the utter clowns who are currently making such a horses ass of everything.

The AI thing doesn't bother me much in regard to music. Pull the plug (or needlessly get into a war with someone bigger than yourselves) and your power grid goes down and it's lights out and Goodnight, Vienna. If you pull the $$$ supply, you'd likely find most of the session guys would gradually wander off into the sunset. They'd have to adapt or croak.

So many grass-roots forms of music have been bought out by massive corporations who know how to commission, create and sell product better than anyone else. Before you know it, the megastars have realised there's gold to be struck and have captured the market. They're out there on the bandwagon, topping the charts faster than you can say "there's a snake in my boots"

So the market gets hijacked and gradually becomes homogenised.

Great thread...and great diversions too!

Majors and major indy's are making money off touring , I doubt they care about 90000 trillion AI songs

Do I enjoy making music ? , I'd rather talk to my dog , Cuz I know its hard work grouping session players and the sad realization I'll never make money on it . Only the lucky 2% do that . Well lets look on the bright side , I'm not studdering like Mel Tilis if I sing , I only sound like porky pig sometimes . Usually with debt collectors , Which way did the rabbit go.  Well down the rabbit hole with Mafai credit cards of course.  if that don't work , the old Viet Nam stories work . Hey Paul, @PaulAds, I had no idea that you played drums.  AI is definitely a different debate.  Music production is developing rapidly.  I guess many writers and musicians are wary as they have often devoted a lifetime to honing their skills and perhaps feel that AI is to an extent may eclipse human creativity.  I for one am extremely proud of the skills that have been hard won over time.

@Elvis Nash, I enjoy the crossover of musical genres.  I often listen to country music and whilst not as popular in the UK, I personally think the musicianship is generally wonderful and melody is alive and kicking. Music is often a melting pot of influences from across the globe. If I could afford to hire great session players and had the time, I'd definitely oversee a quality group of session players.  I'd still have to have a big input in what the band was doing as I'd hate to simply handover one of my songs.  I know it would be in capable hands but I would like to have a contribution over the musical direction.  Unless of course I was lucky enough write for an established artist.  I'd simply accept that it would no longer be my baby entirely.

This is such an interesting thread.  I think it's at it's best when we all discuss what we are doing to bring our creations to life.  There might be something that forum members might try in their own productions.

To much coffee , All genres are good Rap to Opera. Well the spell is broke I caught a 15lb catfish at 4am

Yes Nashville I treat like some Holy Grail , just a bunch of boys making music , I'm sure London is rocking it out , Obviously
I haven't there in awhile , some rumors about the lovely Real -Estate investors , Knocking studios down , for over priced condos. I guess they still Say "bless your heart and sweet Ice tea " I'm a sucker for girls with a southern drawl , Well country music always says girls , We like that . Publishers , that's putting lip stick on a pig , Well don't sugar coat it. I do have feelings lol.

One more story , I handed a CD to I thought was Hank Williams JR
So i'm telling myself , man I hit the big time, I found later it was an impersonator.

Michael August – Pro Nashville Publisher wrote:

Hey Bennett,

Very interesting conversation we're having. Actually funny because Clay Mills and I were having the same discussion. There's no doubt that the music and track sound decent here and the melody created is modern.

That being said, we are not accepting AI generated songs (even if it is track and melody) at this point because the copyright laws are not defined enough on the matter. Also, taking into consideration the artists thoughts, ideas and stance on AI, we would never want to pitch an AI song because this could hinder our chances as well as end up not being the best look for our company.

Excited to talk more about this!

there ya go , Nashville does not like them , So use it as a tool for ideas, But track it with Session players and sing it
