I really like this. The simple vocal & guitar arrangement suit it perfectly. The back-and-forth swing of the melody is really effective.
But I think my favorite part of this song is the lyrics. You've really worked in some great turns of phrase, and starting each verse with "And if..." just instantly makes the listener lean forward as if eavesdropping on some particularly juicy drama

Funny you should say. This is a song born of a "juicy" drama from a different music site. Needless to say, there are a lot of nasty people out there who believe they know more and have a better opinion. And with help from their toadies, can bully people into going along with their viewpoint.
This was written for that person and his toadies in a song, rather than beating my head and wasting my words against their thick skulls.
You either have very intuitive instincts, or you were there ;-)
