Hello all :)
I always played a little guitar, and sang a little, but always separately.
Last couple of months, have just been learning covers to test my vocal skills (or not haha)
but really, this is just to give me an idea of what style of songs I want to write in future...
For now, I'm still learning covers - and looking for suggestions of what directions to go in... feedback welcomed.
I'm recording the songs I'm learning and putting on youtube - so feel free to have a listen and criticize to the hilt and give feedback :)

You've got a great voice.  ;D Smooth and resonant.

As you're experimenting at the moment here's something to be aware of.
If you sing accompanied by your own guitar you may find yourself limiting your vocal to the chords you're most comfortable with.
Try working without the guitar for a bit and try and find an alternative sweet spot in your vocal range. There might not be one, but it's worth a try.

Also welcome.

There are lost of helpful people here ready to throw the hat in to help. The more specific the query the more likely to get a useful answer.

Happy song-writing.
I have no authority or standing here, only opinions. :-)

Hi Both,

thanks for your feedback / suggestions!

Have actually been learning a song which uses a vocal range way above what I'm used to - but I'm thoroughly enjoying playing it... so yes, I think for the moment, its a case of testing testing testing to see what I'm capable of...

Also just starrted using a capo and trying different songs at different ranges - which is giving some 'interesting' results :)

Thanks again for the feedback. Much appreciated. Will keep updated.

Cheers

J
