Something for (single) Mothers Day!

Sunday Morning Superman:

Sunday Morning Superman
Is here to play his part
Come to get the children
And take them to the park

They'll drop into McDonalds
He'll buy a toy or two
Declare how much he loves them
Then rush them back to you

(Ch)
Sunday Morning Superman
Appears for half a day
All loving dad and goodie bags
And then he flies away

The kids think he's a hero
While you get all the grief
Motherly devotion
Versus temporary treats

Sleepless nights and struggles
Are strictly your domain
He's too busy cruising
With his latest Lois Lane

(Ch)
Sunday Morning Superman
Appears for half a day
All loving dad and goodie bags
And then he flies away

(Br)
As he steals the show
For those few precious hours
You barely have the time
To clean the house and grab a shower

(Ch)
Sunday Morning Superman
Appears for half a day
All loving dad and goodie bags
And then he flies away

Watch Sunday Morning Superman
Go up, up and away.

Phil, good write. Like the way the titie doesn't give it all away/ string chorus in particular. For me it's an great to have a different view to a mans view of divorce from Grimbo that I'm putting to music.

Yeah, thats really excellent.

Works perfectly as a poem, but would love to hear it set to music.

The Lois Lane reference and rhyme was genius.

Fantastic write keep them coming.

Cheers,

Phil.

Hello phil,
i'm imagining a really nice acoustic feel to this one,i'm not too
clued up with things but are you putting any finished songs on the forum
or do you just stick to the lyrics forum?,you've wrote and you're writing
some really good songs with good strong structure, spot on,

    Good Evening!
Smart, real smart. Right on the money.
                "Motherly devotion
                 Versus temporary treats"
Like that, like it a lot. But it's all good.
                "He's too busy cruising
                "With his latest Lois Lane"
Superman stuff, leaping tall buildings with a single bound.

                             Thanks!

Good one Phil

Focuses on the theme with laser-like vision!
So true of many men out there I suppose.
There's probably another song needs writing about "Dead-beat" Dads - hope you do that one too!

Gotta tell you, I loved this, a lot!
Very "country" feel to the lyrics, I could see this selling with the right music.

This was soooo smart and so intelligently focused.  And you got us quite a ways into the song before revealing that it was not complimentary to "Superman."

Nothing short of brilliant imo.

Hi Tom, Vintage, Paul, Jamie and Verlon,

Thanks for reading and the comments.

This is not aimed at all 'weekend dads' just the ones that show up for a couple of hours and expect some sort of medal. Most of us know someone like that. I know i do.

And Tom i'm not a muso. I just write some verses and a chorus and bridgey bit in what i call a 'serving suggestion'!

Cheers,

Phil.

I am serious, this is sellable (is that a word?) material.
Every time I read these lyrics I can hear Dolly Parton's voice.
Phil, you gotta get representation and push this to Nashville. I don't patronize people with false praise just to make them feel good. This IS a marketable song in the right genre, and I honestly think the Country Music people would snap it up. Hell, I've paid good money to hear a hell of a lot worse.

What a great write...

I can't really add to what's already been said, except I loved every line.

It tells a story in easy to understand lyrics, which is something I tend to struggle with as I always over complicate things.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Jamie, Tony and Arkwright,

Thanks for reading and commenting.

I always thought Dolly Parton had the greatest hits. Or something like that!

Cheers,

Phil.
