Really good write - the lyrics set a really intimate atmosphere. Love the repetition of 'when darkness turns us on'. Saucy.

Have you got music already written for this? The chorus is strong, but the verses seem like they'd be difficult to write a melody to.

Nice write, kept focus all the way through and eloquently said. With the length of the lines i think its going to suit a slow ballad most likely.

Hi Marrianna,

I liked this one especially the chorus.

All flowed well and the verses fed into the chorus nicely.

I thought maybe the second verse could expand a bit on why she's holding back. It does repeat some of the sentiments of the first verse.

I have, since you commented, been trying to set the words to music just to see what I could do.
It has a strong beat and, so far, have kept the lines as they are throughout.
Pleased you liked the 'saucy' line especially as it is repeated later on

Thankyou for commenting and am pleased you enjoyed the read. I have tried the words as a ballad but seemed to get on better with it when I thought of it as up-tempo.

Likewise, thankyou for your comments which I appreciate. I have taken notice and rewritten a line in the second verse just to explain why she's holding back, and I think it improves it, so thankyou again for the observation.

Your user of the English language never fails to impress Marrianna and this piece is no exception.

I was reading a debate on the forum recently about what is poetry and what are song lyrics and often there's a distinct and obvious difference. However in your case you seen to be able straddle that line wonderfully. In looking forward to hearing this set to music but I would be as equally satisfied listening to this read at a poetry event
