It's actually rather special!!
I've been putting some old tracks up on other forums (haven't got round to replacing my BOSS portastudio which was dropped down the stairs, not by me I hasten to add) so unable to record stuff while on the move...so no new stuff at the mo :( :(
anyway, it's made it clear to me that this forum is the best out there, can't say why exactly but  it is!!
obviously something to do with the members and the way it's administered..
lets hope it stays this way... :)

best to all,
Kevin :)

Well said!  ;D

That is a really well timed comment as well - as I am hoping to publish the results of the survey this week (which will also give stats on the male/female split and age profile) - along with the ideas members posted for improvements and what ones I feel can be implemented

The overriding priority is to KEEP the current "feel" of the forum and not change how it currently works

Any "improvements" will be implemented in a way that can be easily reversed (or will be options people can use or not) if they adversely affect anything

Overall though I think they will make what is already an awesome place even awesomer!!!!!

The most important aspect though is the members - it is great members that make a great forum and we are very blessed to have a fantastic membership form all walks of the songwriting sphere

So glad Boydie is continuing the member-centric approach to the development of the forum. Good on yer, sir!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the place. Lovely to see a spot of spontaneous praise in these here parts, thanks chaps!

When I first started looking for songwriting forums (December 2014), I found three and joined all three of them. Can't remember how much, if any, music I posted in them. Then I ended up with a year plus of breast cancer treatment (double mastectomy and reconstruction), so I forgot all about that I had ever signed up.

In December 2015, I needed a "pick-me-up" to carry me through the end of the blechy stuff, so I went looking for songwriting forums. Voilà! I found at least two and was surprised to discover I was already a member of both!  :o I started posting in them, but I only lasted a couple days in the other one. This one is by far the best.

You know what it is, right? Administrators are like parents and subscribers are like the kids. If the parents provide an atmosphere that promotes and inspires growth and creativity, the kids flourish. I'm flourishing. I've never written so much and seldom as good as what I've done since I've been active here. I always feel outclassed, but everyone is so NICE! So it doesn't matter.

Didn't mean to get so wordy, but this forum has been an important part of my healing process.  :-*  ;D

I´ve been on many forums, running, rugby, music, lunatics etc and this is by far the best. I love the feedback rule because if I´m completely honest, I probably wouldn´t have spent half the time listening to other´s songs as I have. But because of that rule, I have heard so much great new music...I basically now listen to nothing other than the songs from this forum because the vast majority of them are fantastic. It´s a talented place and a great little school for all of us who keep pushing to get better.

I think the competitions are a nice touch (although a bit more variety in them would be nice) and the feedback, for the most part is generally honest. Sometimes I wish it could be more honest, but I realise it is tricky to get a balance between giving encouragement and giving constructive criticism. However, I think we are also self-policing and for every overly-harsh comment there is always something to balance it out. Fab little place on the internet to call home. It´s like my favourite bar.

Id just like to mention my admiration for the forum,i mainly stick
to the lyrics section and i genuinely feel i've got friends on here
transatlantic,the U.K. and wherever.
Thanks to the forum i've actually heard some of my lyrics put to music
and that's a massive buzz.
I've checked out some of the other forums and they don't come close
to this one,
thanks Tone and keep up the good work Boydie,
                                                                                    Tom.

I went on a similar forum for amateur games developers once. The contrast in atmosphere couldn't be more striking. This forum is so welcoming, on the other forum I just got hit by a wave of hostility. Its the people that make it, along with the great work of the mods in fostering the right mood.

I guess the majority of people on this site get laid more too  :D

Good example of why this forum rocks - we can descend into the gutter and come up singing :)
