Emma-Lee is a song about a soldier in the 1950's who is stationed in India and is very much looking forward to seeing his loved one, but with lack of communication there was no way anyone could get a message to him that she had died whilst he was away.

Featuring 6 different guitars.
Nylon
twelvestring
dobro
slide
electric
6 string acoustic

Lyrics -

Do you know
I think about you
I think about you
everyday I do
I think about you
I think about you
Everyday

I sit here on
sun bleached land
write your name in the sand
cos I miss you so much
I miss you so much Emma-Lee

Emma Lee
The road is long
I'm coming home
Emma Lee

Escape these shadows
I cannot cope
The time is torture
the sinking boat
If only we could share
our heartbeats once again

The spindley arms
of the mangrove tree
the ice blue water
of the indian sea
Emma lee dreamed that one day
she would swim out there.

Emma lee
The road is long
I'm coming home
Emma Lee

When I came back home
I knocked on her door
I stood there
with the biggest bouquet
But no one told me
no one told me...

She passed away.

The road was long
but I came back home
Emma-Lee

Blimey ! Six different guitars. At first I was getting some Leonard Cohen but then it morphed into something else. I think the playing, arrangement and production were very good. My only suggestion would be for a M8 to break up the verse / chorus structure. Well put together song

Well the guitars are impressive, and the song is Pretty neat too. I was detecting Cohen too and a bit of Beatles at one point. Interesting lyrics. Is it based on a true story? Either way it's a strong concept. Welcome to the forum. Micky

Well that is an amazing compliment being compared to Leonard! I don't actually listen to him very much at all so he does not have much of an influence.

Thank's Pompeyjazz.

If I'm completely honest the song is a true story but for poetic justice and out of respect for my family I changed the story. My Uncle was killed in a car accident on a friday and we all thought he was single, but on the Monday a young lady knocked on the door to pick him up for work and it turned out it was his girlfriend and she was so distraught she ran off and drove away into the distance and to this day we do not know where she went and never saw her again.

Thank's Mickey.

Nice song. Very much 70s style, all been there somehow, but what hasn't - nice and clean, not overproduced, vocals with feeling. Like it.

@featherstone Just meant, it's not totally original sound-wise, perhaps make it slightly more unique. But I like it.

Beautiful playing and guitar sound, really hits you as soon as the song begins. I really like the concept, taking an old story and spinning into a song, super folk!

The vocal is very intimate. I like it a lot in parts, though sometimes, particularly when you go for the lowest notes, it feels like you're searching a bit and moving out of where's comfortable for you. This can work, or not. Not quite sure it works here but definitely a personal preference and overall i really like what you've done. Great work.
