Have a look at Justin Guitar

He's really good and starts from the basics

Paul Davids. He does beginners stuff as well. Also has a great beard.

Paul Davids I can recommend! :) Yunus Guitarists teach popular and less popular songs in fingerstyle and how to play them melodic, with tabs on the screen and no "regular" lessons. The tabs also shows which chord that is being played, so even if he`s not a pro in reading tabs, I think it would be easy to follow :)

Also, Marty Music I used a lot when I was younger, and he teaches both easy and more intermediate songs, but also some scales and licks.

@adamfarr @Andreas both excellent suggestions, I watch them a lot too, @pompeyjazz I would suggest he has a look at those mentioned and choose the one he prefers, and then stick with that teacher until he is a bit more advanced to avoid getting confused by their different styles.

Cheers, Mikey

@pompeyjazz

If I were starting out again I think I would lean towards Justin Guitar

He is definitely more in the traditional “guitar teacher” camps and has thought through his courses so that they build in a structured and logical way

+100000000000 to this @Mikey

Find one teacher and stick with them - but use other tutorials/videos to learn/explore specific songs

It would come as no surprise that I also advocate learning the theory at the same time to be able to put everything in to context- it is all very well learning fancy licks and playing fast but without the theory (scales, chords, Keys etc.) they will also be limited when it comes to playing with others

@pompeyjazz - I can recommend the Jimi Hendrix 'Play in Day' book, it come with 500 piece charred stratocaster, a can of lighter fuel and a box of matches.  8)

Plus 1 for Justin, I had a look through to check out what was there for my son and stayed and learnt some stuff!

Paul Davids is interesting if a tad annoying, great player though no doubt!

I think I heard that the Fender Play course might be available free at the moment as well?  Could be worth a look.
