Well it's been such a long time since I posted a song, I thought I'd delve the depths of my CD collection for another oldie as I haven't recorded anything new for ages. This recording is at least 10 years old!

It's a strange one this, not the kind of music I usually write. More riff based. Excuse the singing.

Here we go again
Waiting for the train
They took us far away
From our life so lame

Look at all we've done
It wasnt far to run
But what's been has gone
And the rest was won

For I feel free in my heart
But in my mind I'm still at the start
I'll let you forgive so you can receive
The thought of the day
And then we can leave

Oh you got to take
Everything that's free
It may not be you
But it made me me

Everything will go
Thought you love it so
Nothing lasts for long
But you never know

Hi Hofnerite!

I like this song. It has a strong brit-pop flavour to it, a hooky sing-along melody, moody chord progression, atmospheric guitar part. Could do with a slightly cleaner guitar part, but that's not songwriting, is it!?
Nothing really to criticise here, I suppose the lyrics are the weakest link, but they work well enough, and none of them stands out as being poor.

Proper stadium rock, this.

Loving the pick-slide at the beginning! :)

The Hoff is back!
Good to hear another track from you it has been too long! I really enjoyed this. It did have a brit pop feel to it but yet it doesn't sound dated to me. I could definately hear this on the radio and it could easily find a slot in my ipod playlist. I listened to it on my phone so it did sound as if it was a live recording but that certainly didn't detract from the quality of the song or my enjoyment. If you have more of these knocking about get them up here and let me hear them, loved it!

Cheers guys, much appreciated. Yes TMNC, I have more, I'll have a sift through.
I really didn't know how this one would come across because to me it feels very basic. 4 chords all the way through and very basic lyrics but I am glad you liked it!

Hi Hofnerite,

This one has a great feel to it, from the moment the guitar intro comes in, to the introduction of the very catchy vocal and the great lyrics.  The big guitars are lovely and I really hope you get 'round to recording this song again with less reverb. Unfortunately the recording makes it difficult to hear just how good this song is.  It's pure quality though.

Well done,

Paul

This is a nice brit pop comp. You obviously love the reverb too much, though ;D and like Pablo said, it makes it a bit difficult to listen to especially in relation to the voice.
I enjoyed it at any rate.

Cheers Pablo and Zelig!

Yes I loved the old reverb back then for some reason!
I have come up with a middle 8 for this song which I will add to my long list of songs to re-record. Hopefully that will break it up a bit.
