The ending surprised me
I never saw that coming
This sounds like a folk tune
And I'm guessing - probably Irish?
Sounds like the Clancy Brothers
How do I even know them
I'm not even American
I guess i'm just a Dylan fan

I love your harmonies
They make this a soothing song
I also like your singing
With folk, you can't go wrong
Good luck with the competition
although I'm not participating
It wouldn't be fair to most villains
'cause my lyrics are too terrifying
When hope fails a servant or prey,
Anger frees him from all the chains,
If hope disappoints, anger prevails,
And freedom is worth all the pain.

Ahh, those harmonies :) Always a treat to hear your songs, Hab. Definitely a touch of Simon & Garf to this, but as someone else said, with a distinctive british folky feel.

Particularly like the sparse guitar & vocal arrangement. The rhythmic changes and harmonies add plenty of interest. SPOOKY ENDING BRO :o

Not much else to say that hasn't already been said. Your recordings sound better each time you upload one, very pro sound to this one. :)

It's the kind of song that I wish I had written.

Hi habiTat

English folk music is alive and well, echoes of Bert Jansch, like the hynotic guitar playing and vocals, an enjoyable listen.

This should do well in the competition.

Absolutely beautiful.   And while I can hear similarities to Simon and Garfunkle in there, it's VERY original in my mind.   And the lyric is phenomenal.

I think this is a great song.....  and forty years ago, I think it would have made it onto the radio.  Wouldn't fit in now.... which is a knock on what the radio is playing now, NOT a knock on your song.

Habitat,
Great to hear this from you. Enjoying your direct approach, storytelling and your unique sound as ever.  Guitar sounds really good with little bit of reverb..
Sounds fresh to me, think I'll have another listen.
Good luck
