This is our second song.

I'm posting it up to invite feedback on the song.

I am posting our original demo, as I prefer the vocal arrangements.

https://soundcloud.com/sandeep-issar/to-catch-a-falling-leaf-first-demo

The song is about falling in love and superstition!

The lyrics are:

Catch a Falling Leaf

Catch a falling leaf and make a dream come true
Tried to catch a leaf the day I fell in love with you
I can walk the street and beg to know your name
You can break my heart  and say my lie's a game

There were times when I could see you in the back yard of my mind
And there were times when I begged for your love as payment of kind
I sang of times...so so many times, I sang of times-------
When I would......

See a rainbow in the sky all colours there to view
Blow an eyelash from my hand and I just think of you
Dance upon a cloud and tried to sign your name
You can break my heart and say my lie's a game

And there were times when I could see my lie would never have a start
So I set off on a mission to find your missing heart
I sang of times...so so many times, I sang of times-------
When I would......

Catch a falling leaf and make a dream come true
Tried to catch a leaf the day I fell in love with you
I can walk the street and beg to know your name
You can break my heart and say my lie's a game

See a rainbow in the sky all colours there to view
Blow an eyelash from my hand and I just think of you
Dance upon a cloud and tried to sign your name
You can break my heart and say my lie's a game

Thanks

Sandeep

i thought this sounded realy psychedelic ..i dont know if it was supposed to but it was like classic british psychedelia... right from the lyrics to the slightly eastern sounding vocal touches
i loved the vioiln & the whole backing track was beautiful & tasteful with a fabulous melody spread over it all
i thought this was outstanding ...i know it repeated a lot but i didnt mind as it was so good
i couldnt find any LSD references in it?  ;D where are they?  ;D
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Ok Tinam you are officially wonderful......
No psychedelic references but heavily influenced by Lennon and McCartney......we think
Would love to feature in Yellow Submarine.

Thx

I like it Sandeep. It had a really groovy sixties feel but there were touches of the eighties in there as well reminded me of Seal (Remember him ?) Overall a very enjoyable listen of sixties / eighties fusion. Hey you missed the seventies out  :)

Cheers John

Hi Sandeep

Nice song! Liked your vocals and the backing track in this.
Lyrics were good but seemed a bit crammed in in places but maybe that's what you were going for.
To really nit-pick I thought the snare was a bit heavy for a light-hearted song but that's down to personal prefs.

Enjoyed the listen!
Paul

Very nice, very smooth. You are a smoothy in real life aren't you?

Nicely put together song and the whole thing blends beautifully, with strong lyrics. It passed quickly for me which is the sign of something good.

My only production suggestion is to put a bit more bottom end on the vocals to thicken them out a bit. Good stuff.

Actually I really liked the way the lyrics fitted the music - it's what stood out for me in this song.  It's the semiquaver figure on the first beat of each line, which applies consistently throughout each verse.  So many songwriters come up with a good idea like that and then squander it because they don't make the lyrics fit in the same way every time.  That's the sort of thing that keeps me listening throughout a song - I'm waiting to hear how the idea is going to be developed.  I also thought the treatment of the word "times" in the chorus was very ingenious.

Stylistically I can merely echo the comments of others.  Well done!

Works for me. I love the groove and the melody and singing is super nice - I think you nail that vibe. The arrangement feels lovely and spacey and open giving everything plenty of room to breathe. Lovely lyrics, too. Fine job all round.
