Hi Guys!

I wrote this last year (it was in the lyrics forum) and have gotten around to recording it...I put up a tentative mix and would appreciate any feedback on how to make it better...A Randy Newman inspired tune ...a little "tongue in cheek" social commentary....!

Girl in a Vat

©I.Wolosenko 2015  music/lyrics

Vocals/Horns - igg
Lead guitar, Bass - Tony Di Gregorio

V1
The modern world is such a thrill
To think that I can have my fill
Of dreamy girls that top the bill
By using all my science skill
I'll make em' in a vat

V2
First I'll collect their DNA
And from this elemental clay
Create perfection as I play
With many features quite risqué
A little this, a little that

CH:
I'm clonin' me a girlfriend
She's all the stars I like
Mixin'  her up in a blender
Work today,... have fun tonight
Angelina's bee sting lips
Hot Sofia's  swervy hips
Jlo will provide the butt
Shaped just like a Seychelle nut

V3
These perfect parts I'll intertwine
Through sequences that I've designed
Part acid and part  alkaline
Sweet temperaments with  looks sublime
Not skinny and not fat

CH
I'm clonin' me a girlfriend
She's all the stars  I like
Mixin'  her up in a blender
Work today,... have fun tonight
Angelina's bee sting lips
Hot Sofia's  swervy hips
Jlo will provide the butt
Shaped just like a Seychelle nut

V4
So, no more hanging out in bars
Or driving round in hopped up cars
And wishing on some lucky stars
Instead I'll store my girls in jars
And make them in a vat

Hmmm, Frankenstein monster's girlfriend! I like the romantic, swingy big band sound, but the creepy subject matter kinda makes me shudder. I think this would have made a good spooky entry...if you didn't already have one, but you do. Otherwise, no nits!

Yay...I remember this one for its great lyrics!

Very witty and intelligent...and sinister  :o

A cool, smooth groove provides the required chloroform before the lyric can complete its ghastly business.

Yup, the lyrics are scary indeed but well put together. I dig it!

Absolutely love the big band/'Ol jazz feel and believe you pull it off really authentic, playing as well as singing. Good job!

Overall, I really like this one. Despite the somewhat gruesome lyrics, or maybe I mean because of 'em. =) Anyhoo, good stuff!

Cheers,

S

The song has very define swing and the lyrics clever and amusing, all put together in a smooth tight package.

What's not to like? Pass me another cognac my man.  :)

Igg. I have a shite phone that does NOT like reverberation so I can't listen at the moment. Will be my first listen when I get to work on Monday morning

Well, This is great. I love it already and wouldn't change it. It feels both tight and loose at the same time. That great, solid comping and bass and drums with the backing vocals 'swilling' around behind the confident but relaxed lead vox. At first I thought you'd put ambient sounds of people in a bar behind the first verse but then realised it was the BV. I like it.

Lyrics made me think of 'Carry on Screaming' ... 'Frying tonight!'

I love the mix simply because it is beautifully open and everything is clear and easy to listen to.

I love this Igg...always liked jazzy big band stuff. Lyrics are great as well...and I believe relate to the fantasy of every young man (I´m old). I think the production isn´t bad at all...maybe tweak the bass a bit and put a bit of swing rhythm in there and it´ll be cool.

Love the guitar solo at 2:50. Really good stuff!

your sound reminds me of Cramer - a musician on this board. where is he, by the way.

So, yeah, you really know how to put together a swingy, jazzy song. cool cool.

the mix is pretty good too.

nothing to complain

A super fun song Igg....say, how about inviting me over to your next science study over  ;)
And while "a little of this" is just great...I prefer a "lot of that"  8)

Good stuff!!!

Hi Igg. I remember these lyrics from a while ago. Didn't you win Lotm one month. Love it when you pull one of your jazzy tracks out of the bag. Great style. Very suave and sophisticated man

I can hear this in some Rocky horror Show style thing
the lovely smooth jazz style was delicious & harked back to a time when lyrics were written more tongue in cheek
youve done a smashing vocal & such smooth arrangements it all sounds quite sophisticated
I loved the backing vocals & beautiful gypsy jazz guitar

of course I hope youll be making some super hot men by your method aswell....as us girls are totally fed up with the current lot!  ;D
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

This is clever. Funny and ingenious throughout. The musical palette is spot on and beautifully brought together. I loved the "butt/Seychelles nut" thing - hysterical.

This would put many many show tunes in the shade - it does remind me of a song from a Broadway musical and a very good one at that. The playing and singing is perfect throughout - what an impressive track - the best I've heard from you. Bravo.
