This is one of those songs that just sort of happened  :)

I've been working on some collabs and like to do some stuff in-between as I like having a few songs on the go at the same time.

I've always loved the sixties soul ballad stuff, Otis and the like.

This came together in more or less 2 days. The one thing that was missing was some top quality lead guitar. Step in Mr Davy Vance  :) I didn't want to mess with it after that. Hope it captures the mood

Lost And Lonely

I've been sailing my ship, on a sea of heartbreak
I'm trying to find dry land
Oh if someone could, someone would
Give me your hand

I've been lonely, so cold and lonely
Ever since you've been gone
But I need the strength baby
For me to carry on

Each day I look at the news and I see
There's heartbreak and all this swirling round me
Just give me the chance to prove to you
Yes, I will make you see

I've been sailing my ship, on a sea of heartbreak
Trying to get dry land
All I need baby
Is you to guide me with your hand

In the long and lonely nights
I want to hold you tight
Oh, you've got me burning up inside
Don't ever say, you want me that way
Cos you will understand

(c) Bradley – 2018

by golly you got this one nailed!

At my great grandmother's house I used to listen to the souls of percy sledge and sam cook, I was a teenager, this reminds me of those days.
There was always a smell of furniture polish. Oh sometimes while listening on headphones I'd polish her brass ornaments.
lol. I must have been about thirteen.

great job Pompey!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

Lovely bluesy feel about it, seems less mosely shoals and more Get Happy era Elvis Costello to my ears but that is a really good thing.

I would have done a little more with the horns, getting them to do more stabs, more rhythmical work. But what you have is effective.

The only other thing I noticed was the organ modulation was a little aggressive, would be nice is it changed to add emphasis but is seems set to super modulate all the way through.

Great genre jumping work overall. Good job.

 A good tune.

Definitely hints of A changes is gonna come and sitting on a Dock.

Lovely Hammond playing and guitars set a nice tempo.

Love the horn ending.

Well done

My first thought was "Rod Stewart". :D

It's not my usual style but I liked it.

Hey Jazz the Pomp

This is really cool, I really like your Vocal delivery, great Song, really great.

I noticed that there is something about the drums... It might be that it sounds like a drum m/c,  It might be the dead sounding snare, or the lack of ride cymb @ 1:19 in the build up, maybe triplets @ 1:34 or crescendo floor tom and snare together, songs like this also have a dead stop before a solo,

Also the the solo guitar might have been more suitable with a bluesy 335...

Long Horns could also build to create some tension before a solo.

Sorry 'bout all this but it's so clear in my head, hope you don't mind, and hope it helps.

Nice listen Pompey

Your'e most welcome, I agree Pompey, reviews that actually suggest ideas at certain times can really help, of course it's up to you if you decide to do anything about it. I have indeed acted up such reviews of my songs here. Oftentimes if there is a consensus of opinion about a certain part of the track or production then you know it needs working on, if there is a split opinion, then maybe leave it as is..

Yeah, you got this one nailed down. Great vocals. And guitar, of course. I agree with CPM that there's something weird about the drums, but I wouldn't have been able to say it like he just did. Haha. But great Memphis sound.

Nicely done pomp...only prob for me is the drums seem to be a little behind the beat..and you seem to have a delay on the snare which isn't helping it IMVHO... :) :)

@Sterix Rod Stewart eh ! Well I'll take that as a compliment as long as you're talking early Rod Stewart a la Jeff Beck era  :)

@cowparsleyman - You know I started off with the kinda dry drum sound that I envisaged but I've tried a version with a different kit and with the Ride suggestion implemented. I would not dare to change the @Skub guitar  :) It's my birthday today and I want to live a bit longer  ;D

@shadowfax - Thanks Kev - I've done some drum fiddling on this alternative version....

@redrhodie - Glad you think I nailed the genre - Nashville eh  :) :)

It's always a pleasure to work with ya John.

As I said to ya,feel free to change any part/tone or otherwise on the guitar parts. The song comes first.  :)

Happy 70th btw.  8)
