Originally this was intended to be a punk song
I was messing with a 3/4 time signature and I started really liking this version
It's one of my favourites.

Lyrics:

this is how the rich win the war

this is how the rich win the war
magnifying differences
triggering all prejudice
this is how the rich win the war

this is why we're destined to lose
content with apologies
accepting o' the way it is
this is why we are destined to lose
these mad machinations
way out on a limb
they're tightening the vice
my head caves in

this is how the pricks win the war

success will surely destroy you
there's no way other way around it
you will leave it like you found it
success would certainly kill you
these mad machinations
telling me I cannot win
my head is in the vice
still, the light gets in

this is why we're destined to lose

they will eat you alive
slowly 'cause they got no teeth
it begins on the inside
'til you're praying for release

this is how the rich win the war

Hi Rightly,

loved it, reminded me a bit of Dylan, only slightly. Enjoyed it, well done.

Nice. Long ago I was a Dylan fan. I hear it now in the song. I often get Bowie comparisons too. But these guys covered a lot of ground. Thanks for the like

Thanks Ben
This was strangely easy write.
I was surprised by it.

One could certainly waltz to this! Excellent job, as always. Kind of depressing lyric, sadly fits with current events these days.

I've had that "depressing" comment before
Maybe it is.
My take on that, ambiguous yet accurate - Identification is liberation. To discuss something, makes it manageable, conceptualizes it.

I'm just not interested in writing fragile, nervously optimistic lyrics that prove vacuous before leaving the mouth.  ;D

I've always loved the waltz.
This is my 3rd dally into waltz land.
More can be done in this time signature, I mean to look into it.
Thanks for the feedback.
