Dorian Urac

Hi all, I'm back  :)

Finally finished this song, about someone close to me who passed away this winter. I was just recording the guitar for this song which I already named "The end", when I got a phone call in which I heard about her fatal illness. It was a dark & strange coincidence. After her passing, additional lyrics were added and I dedicated the song to her.

Instruments
Western guitar (acoustic recording), electric guitar (Telecaster), ride (acoustic recording), AD2 drums, EZbass, G-Force Mellotron string & french horn, Arturia V3 Minimoog, UVI 8-bit synth hits. NO AI.

I'm particularly interested in how you experience the vocals (in particular English pronunciation since I'm Dutch) and the mix. Not too bright? Not too much bass? Punch? Saturation? etc... Still pondering on whether to change the strings into less 'lo-fi" and less prominent ones, and whether to start later in the song with drums and synths. Tips are more than welcome.

I'm also wondering if the vocals aren't overdone in the sentimental department.
Of course, as always I'll be listening to your songs as well.

Lyrics
This is the end
My dear friend
This is the end
My lonely friend

This is goodbye
This is the end
The end

You said it was time
The battle is lost

This is the end
The end

There is no hope
The suffering unreal
You've been to the dark side
Not holding up
Decisions unreal
All the sadness and pain
On a cold sad winter day
You went away

This is goodbye
This is the end
The end
Goodbye

I really like the "artistic" approach. the production is great. Love the ambiance of it all. I have no idea with how to chang this. I like it!

Yeah.... this keeps growing on me. Has a Pink Floyd vibe that you reflect superbly.

What I really like is the instrumental arrangement and composition and how the  instruments work together. Really great!
Your singing is quite good, but maybe something with the effects and mix of the vocal should be improved. It's a bit Bowie like but maybe too much chorus effect or something

Emotional, effective. I thought 5 minutes would be way too long, but it wasn't.

The antithesis of happy birthday. 😊
