I know it's a bit late coming ,it's only a demo , warts and all  :D  but i did it in the shed this morning ,
did it with my little zoom recorder in one go ( it tells !! )
hence the sound of the rain going down the gutter and the occasional sniff ,i have a cold  ;D
here goes ,  http://soundcloud.com/compass-plane/grey-old-dog-demo

oh that is so sad andy i had a tear in my eye by the end...so yes it might be a rough recording but it did the bizness if it made me cry
shame you coldnt have a little reverb on the vocal it would lift it out of your shed into somewhere nicer
but its a nice little song i realy enjoyed listening the lyric was very effective & more than made up for any other weaknesses :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Great stuff Andy,

Very sad song, lovely guitar playing and very thought provoking lyrics, reminds me a bit of the littlest hobo..

I'm so glad you got this done despite your cold and the rainy shed conditions. Lets face it, if you wait for the rain to stop you'll never get it done  :D

I'll update the voting page.

Nice one Andy :)

but its bound to be from our own perspective..anyway we wont go there..
well done mate,
i could imagine a second vocal on the final chorus
i may not believe this tomorrow...

This is lovely. Really heartfelt, touching. I think it's just fine how it is. Really sad, and I felt like I'd met this pooch. Good stuff mate.

Very touching, honest sounding song, Andy!
Love it! Could use a clearer recording. But sounds very natural and very real.
Beautiful lyrics. Will fit perfectly on the BADAW album! :)

Thanks very much to everyone for the great comments,

I made Tina cry  ;D   doesn't get much better than that ( sorry Tina  :-* )

i'll try to get a "Ronerized" version done before the mastering deadline ( assuming it's good enough for the album  :-[ )

Those are very sad lyrics indeed. Really telling the hard truth without sugar coating anything.
But you deliver them nicely!
Lovely guitar intro too.
Agree with Tina that just a bit of reverb would have sounded cool. But hard to do that in one take in a ...shed?! ;D Aren't you freezing? I thought it was pretty cool though that you can hear the birds outside in the recording.

Some very cute dogs btw :)

Super stuff. That guitar intro had me straight away. Well written song that is definitely worth recording properly. I thought the sound of birds singing and the rain running down the gutter were kind of symbolic of the dog's life running away into a drain. I'd keep them in.

Hi Andy,

Nice playing. Liked the lyrics. When i look in the mirror I feel like a grey old dog sometimes. As others have said, it could be about anyone, not just a furry friend. Good all round tune.
