I Use AI!

I think a board just for AI is a great idea! And it doesn't bother me to admit I use it. In a variety of ways. Such as:

1. I tell chatgpt I have a prompt for a song and ask for directions I could go with it.
2. I paste my lyrics into chatgpt and ask for an analysis.
3. I paste my lyrics into Suno and add some parameters like [folk rock][ethereal][atmospheric][driving rhythm][strong female vocal] etc...it looks like the sky is the limit. After it generates two versions  (always two) with whatever parameters I give it, I might try a different genre or two or more. I end up with a variety of versions to give me ideas for my own iteration.
4. I let my grandkids entertain themselves using Suno to make up songs.  ;D

I'm sure other people have other ideas and practices. AI is a [relatively new] tool; the trick is to find ways to make it work for you. I'm very interested in how others use it. And which ones they use.

I use it on ideas to test the waters to see what's what's working or not . But always use session players and sing a song , AI has good production ideas , the same as listening to current hit songs for ideas .

I use AI specifically Suno to compose my songs. I don't use AI to write my songs, they come originally from me, every word.  ;)

So you write words and AI creates music?  The thing we listen to?

I don't think that's right.  AI in the creative arts and dumbing down generally is not good in my opinion.  I guess we have all taken advantage of things being made easier with DAW improvements and plugins but removing a part of the creative process is one to far for me.

Vicki

I see your point @PeteS . On the other hand, there are those who only write lyrics, no music. And vice versa. If a person who writes lyrics has few or no collaborators, AI can fill the gap so that person can hear one or more versions of their lyrics set to music.

@PeteS -- Hey man! It's good to see you here, Pete. I look forward to hearing new tracks from you with your great guitar work. :D

Like many songwriters, I completely agree with your view and comments on this matter. It's ridiculous for someone to use AI to generate a song's music, and then post it to a songwriter's forum and ask people for feedback about it.

I'm happy to comment on the lyrics written by human lyricists, but who wants to waste time reviewing music generated by AI? I won't even click on the link once I see that AI was used to generate it. Everyone I know feels the same way.

Today, songwriter's forums increasingly condone posts with AI-generated music, but some forums have banned it entirely, which is good in my opinion. Songwriter's forums are for songs written by humans, whether it's music only, words and music, or lyrics only. AI-generated words and music should be banned entirely from songwriter's forums. For those who are offended by this position, they should develop their own AI-generated music forums.

Imagine an artist's forum for artists who paint portraits, scenes, and pictures and they get together to enjoy and critique each other's work. Then, one day, someone shows up with a painting they bought at Wal-mart and says, "Here I am everyone! What does the group think of my painting?" And they're serious! LOL!!! 😂🤣

Or imagine a chef's group that meets and bakes various entrees and delicacies. Then, one day, someone shows up with a pie they bought in the frozen foods section of the local grocery and says, "Here I am everyone! What does the group think of my pie?" And they're serious! LOL!!! 😂🤣

With songwriter's forums, we now have people generating music with AI, showing up in songwriter's forums, and saying, "Here I am everyone! What does the group think of my song that AI generated for me?" And they're serious! LOL!!! 😂🤣

WTH? When will the lunacy end? LOL!!! 😂🤣

Cheers,
Joseph
