I write songs for places. This one is for Denmark Street in London, the old Tin Pan Alley, before it turns into glass.
I walked it first, and kept what was actually there: Wunjo's window, forty years of band stickers layered on the doorframes, a TO LET sign over the room where the hits got written. Then I wrote it, about three and a half minutes, and let the ending ring out instead of stopping it.
