A Shot Rang Out

Wing and a Prayer, written and recorded by the Bee Gees, was released in 1989 as the B-side of a single and it also appeared as a CD-only bonus track on their album, One, in several markets.

Before this song, the Bee Gees contributed two songs to the 1988 Summer Olympics album, One Moment in Time. The first was Shape of Things to Come, written and performed by the Bee Gees. The second was Fight (No Matter How Long), written by the Gibb brothers, with Eric Clapton singing lead and the Bee Gees singing backing vocals.

The song Wing and a Prayer was also recorded during this same general period. I suspect Wing and a Prayer may have been written with the 1988 Olympics project in mind, especially considering the Bee Gees' involvement with that album. The lyrics seem to encourage a beloved woman through an intense struggle and competition, which would also suggest it may have been originally written for the Olympics album.
