Does a Sorceress Make Love? (demo)

Previous topic - Next topic

icystorm

Greetings! Despite being inundated with work projects for most of the year, I have been working in bits and pieces on a new song to support my forthcoming fictional thriller/horror novel about two enchantresses. The song is currently at the unpolished-demo stage and is not ready for Soundcloud or a music video on YouTube yet. Hopefully, by the end of the month I will have produced a much better demo suitable to send off for a music video and posting to Soundcloud, time-permitting. :D

The vocals are the original first-take and too loud in the mix. I will re-record new vocals and mix those better for the final demo soon. The outro will have some changes including additional ad-libs and more musical variety, too.

The song is about a mortal man who falls under the spell of a beautiful woman, Hedra, who is a dark enchantress. He believes he is in love with her because she owns and controls his mind. :o And, wow, is he ever in love with her! :D

song from the forthcoming fictional horror/thriller novel "Omega's Dark: The Transference"

--Verse 1
There's somethin' about you I can't place it
In the dark you're the lover I need
There's somethin' deep in your eyes
In the moonlight
You're the spirit who makes time freeze

--Pre-chorus 1
There's somethin' I must know
To live or die
And these questions
Are all that burn inside

--Chorus
Do you know when I think of you
And all the wonders that you do
Do you know what it means to want someone
The way that I want you

--Release
What is your heart made of [subsequently: 'What are you thinkin' of' and 'What do I suffer for']
Does a sorceress make love
Do you know how much I worship you, love

--Verse 2
I see what you are and I can take it
You're my love, I'm the light on your sea
You own every part of me
You can claim it
With no struggle I'll go where you lead

--Pre-chorus 2
There's somethin' you must know
I live and die
You're the air I breathe
You're all that burns inside

(repeat chorus; then to bridge)

--Bridge
Until all angels turn to dust
You are burned into my heart
And I'll be yours through dark and day
Till the end of time
When all the shadows fall

(repeat chorus; then to outro)

--Outro
(does a sorceress make love)
In the dark of night
(in the way that I love you)
In the sun and light
(does a sorceress make love)
In the world of life
(in the way that I love you)
You're like paradise
(does a sorceress make love)

As I've said before your production sound isn't a million miles away from some of the stuff I do - though your voice is way better than me. Im intrigued by the high concept of your project too - very ambitious - I can only think in terms of self contained 4 minutes pop songs so a tie in novel seems like a lot of thought is going into your creativity. Keep going!

Thanks, man! Yeah, I really like this song, and I definitely want to record it in a studio with a professional sound engineer who can balance and mix everything correctly, plus some studio musicians and a great female vocalist to sing with. Thanks for listening. :D

Session players, studios, producers, and engineers are a bit pricey , But its a good goal to have

@Elvis Nash – Thanks Elvis! I have the money for it, but I need to find the time and the right people. It's a goal to have my songs professionally mixed and produced before I join that big recording studio in the sky someday. 🤣😂 Beyond the personal vanity of that goal, I have no illusions about making it big. But, I do hope that someone of note would hear one of my songs, record it, and release it. If not, it's no big deal. All of my bucket list items were already checked off numerous times. I feel blessed. :D

You have a very good workflow of writing and recording. Your songs all sound very polished. Good work, man!

Cheers,
Joseph

Probably a lot of studios in your area , it's not much $75.00 a hour recording with engineer , Session players $150.00 per song . Now producers thats a different story , they can range from all kinds of prices . You probably want a young producer if you plan on pitching it , To me the song would fit the Sync category ,

icystorm

@Elvis Nash — Thanks, man! I may seek a bulk, package deal for 15 songs recorded and mixed over a month. I'm sure that kind of thing happens all the time. I'm not sure what 'Sync' is. My preferred style is pop-rock 80s genre. :D

'Sync is for movies TV ect . Cuts for artists are a different deal, Ya got be careful not to sounded dated to the 80ties , Why I suggest a young producer thats hip to 2025 sounds . Now Rick Beato goes over hits , Some do adhere to a 80ties vibe in parts . But they also drift to what's happening in well hell it's almost 2026 . Find some kid to produce ya

@Elvis Nash — Solid advice! Yeah, time rolls on. We'll be in the 2030s before we know it. Thanks, man!

Why I write 16 hours a day with cat naps , Now a young producer might drive ya crazy , But its compromise like marriage

Forty Pounds Of Ghost , about 4 months of depression and suicide thoughts and bouncing back  . I lost 40 lbs , Well on the bright side maybe it's better to be skinny lol.
Tracks are being made now in Nashville . You would really think at 71 the rain would stop.

It would take me 40 years to write a book ,My grammar skills are like a 6 -year old sometimes lol
