(Verse 1)

Yeah, I been worryin' myself half to death,

Lost forty pounds and damn near lost my breath.

World got loud — money, fear, and noise,

And I forgot I was one of the wild boys.

I ain't lookin' for pity — I been through worse,

Just me and my shadow, tradin' verse for verse.

The devil don't fight fair, but neither do I,

And I still wake up — ain't that somethin'? — still alive.

(Chorus)

Forty pounds of ghost, gone in the wind,

Carried all that weight, now I'm light again.

I ain't fixed, but I ain't broke,

Just breathin' easy — forty pounds of ghost.

(Verse 2)

Doctor said I should take it slow,

But hell, I got songs that won't let go.

I spent too long starin' at the floor,

Now I'm back to knockin' down heaven's door.

You don't get peace, you just get time,

To make somethin' true and call it a rhyme.

And I ain't scared of dyin' no more —

Just scared of not livin' like before.

(Chorus)

Forty pounds of ghost, gone in the wind,

Carried all that weight, now I'm light again.

Ain't no saint, ain't no joke,

Just me and my truth — forty pounds of ghost.

(Outro)

So here's to the pain, and here's to the fight,

Here's to the days that stole my light.

If you're still breathin', you ain't lost,

You just sheddin' your skin — forty pounds of ghost.

Hey Joseph, it does kick some butt

Thanks man

Mora Amaro La Loba

I wish I could handle words in their purest form, as you do; you achieve a genuine overall solidity, a skeleton you cover with feelings undisguised and unadorned.

Take care, thin man.
I did not know that to live <I had to die so many times

Love this song buddy. Very well crafted with superb vocals. Great production and a good string song for a live setting I imagine.

Kudos brother.

Last one he had a baby , newborn , Now she's 4 years old . I wish time would slow down lol . I do not sound like Dylan lol. I'll vent a little bit , I'm sick of AI songs . Well we woke up lol

Yeah, they're really creating cool tracks for you, man. Your three recent ones, including this one, Let It Kill You, and The Devil Was an Outlaw... are all solid and pack a punch. Did you use the same producer on all three?

Good deal! Listening to your tracks, it sounds like your producers do a very good job. Your songs are always professional and polished.
