I suppose a bit of history is always good to frame member personas.

I'm Joe. I just turned 70 on March 16. My muse goes back to 1968 when I first heard Classical Gas by Mason Williams. I was 13. By the time I was 18 I could play it.

I never got into hard rock, country, blues, Motown or jazz. I was a child of the 70's acoustic guitar folk scene and never left it, though I did dabble with forays into blues and country. So, that's how you can frame me.

I stopped actively listening to published music in 1976 to focus on being me and searching for my own sound. But, due to changes in lifestyle I actually left music altogether and returned to it about 30 years later.

When I did return to music it was to continue chasing my own sound but my early influences are indelibly imprinted onto my muse. So, instead of songs I turned to mostly acoustic instrumental work where my hands lead my head versus my head leading my hands, the way songs do. When I write lyrics first my hands are slaved to them. When I write instrumentals first (scores) I can bash them into songs when I chance upon collaborations. If that doesn't happen, I have the instrumentals to further develop. They groom the mind to play nice with improvisation.

That's how I am now, musically speaking. Also, I'm from Orlando, Florida, USA.
